Adapt your products storage to your needs as a prepper

Adapt your products storage to your needs as a first step in your prepping journey. Try to establish an intelligent way to prepare your food reserve and products of first necessity.

When we engage in the road of prepping, we try to manage alone or with a group of people any situation of crisis, so don’t hesitate to work with the people you trust.

Managing a crisis is taking into consideration the dispositions to avoid it, in this case, you have to assume the consequences of such events. The distribution and access to food are one of the most precarious aspects of our society.

One of the crisis that the preppers want to avoid are the ones threatening the shops or their access. The citizen who is in difficulty, regarding his financial situation, his health or even his mobility will find himself in a situation where he can’t go to the shops to get the supplies he needs.

In the macroscopic level, almost all the crisis that our society may face will engender an impossibility for the shops to stay working.

Social troubles, riots, wars, petrol shortage, transports strike, natural or industrial disaster, all these situations will cause the rupture of the supply chain, shops looting or the impossibility to get out of your home.

Therefore, stocking food is more than a necessity, it’s a life-saving obligation.

Choosing the products to stock:

The prepper will choose the products that conserve itself independently. Frozen food may help in your daily life, but they require a regular supply of electricity, which is not guaranteed with a state of emergency.

The reserve of the prepper should contain water, canned food and dry products. All other products which you can’t pass 24 hours without having to be added, in particular, sanitary products.

Stock what you eat:

Stock the aliments you eat on a daily basis, again, you have to adapt the storage of your products to your needs, this way you won’t have to change your eating habits. However, even if you don’t like canned food, you will have to stick with them.

Stocks: a financial placement for preppers

The fact that the price of the basic aliments is in constant rising for many years, (around 3% to 5% per year), buying food today that you will eat in one year is a better place than what all the banks provide to the public.

Which quantity should you stock?

In order to respond correctly to that question, we will have many questions:

What are your daily needs in food and in products of first necessity?

Do you know your ration in rice, seeds and vegetables?

How long does a toothpaste last when you use it? What about your shampoo and your shower soap?

What’s your water consumption?

All these answers are linked to your alimentary habits, your activity and the number of people living with you.

Check your closet and your fridge, then note the quantity of food you have then made your predictions. You will correct yourself every time until you reach the perfect estimations.

How long do you want your stocks to keep you well provisioned?

Are you planning to leave your home if the situation is bad? Do you prefer to keep the siege? Are you able to produce your food?

Do you have something that you can swap in exchange for food if the system crashes? Do you have any skills that the others would need in exchange of goods?

By responding to these questions, you can estimate the number of goods you should stock in order to adapt the storage of your product to your needs.
